A FEAST of live entertainment is on offer to Wyre Forest music buffs this Bank Holiday weekend.

Tomorrow Bewdley will play host to a performance by a Dutch band, Le Freak, specialising in funk, blues and soul, while "folk and roll" group The Riddlers will be making an appearance in their home town on Monday.

And fans of classic pop and rock and roll can catch The Disciples, who play numbers by the likes of The Beatles, Oasis and Status Quo as well as The Blues Brothers, in a free concert in Kidderminster on the same day.

Le Freak, formed in Holland in 1998, will be in England for five days and have a date in Dudley on Saturday after performing at Bewdley Institute tomorrow.

Band members Perry Gruntjens, Oscar Berkers, Fred van Elten and Patrick van Bussel dress in 70s gear for their gigs and promise to put on "a real show".

The group, invited over by Oscar's brother Sander - who lives in Bewdley - have played regularly across their homeland and have forthcoming engagements in places as diverse as Italy and Indonesia.

They will be supported by blues rock band Norman The Printer and fans can see both for £3 on the night.

Unlike Le Freak, The Riddlers, who aim to "create a fusion of traditional Celtic folk songs with a contemporary blues rock style", hail from Bewdley itself.

Vocalist and acoustic guitarist John King fronts the band, assisted by lead guitarist Dave Robinson, fiddler Sharon Hill, bass player Snowy Edwards and drummer Max Keen.

Their special Bank Holiday Show will begin at 8pm in the George Hotel, Load Street, on Monday.

But before this, The Disciples will be at Brinton Park bandstand at 2.30pm.

The free concert has been organised by Wyre Forest District Council's events section.

Spokeswoman Louise Gardner said: "Why sit in Bank Holiday traffic in search of an afternoon out when such good quality entertainment is on your doorstep?"
