PARISH COUNCIL: Notes from the meeting held on May 10:

n AGM business: Mr G Robinson and Mr J Simpson were re-elected as chairman and vice chairman respectively and it was agreed that the duties and responsibilities of all councillors would remain unchanged for the coming year.

Severn Waste: It was agreed that a letter be sent to Severn Waste, the planning officer and the environmental agency to register the parish council's strong objections to what is seen as a flagrant breach of the licence and planning conditions regarding the removal of the tonnage limit and 24 hour working of the current materials recycling facility.

Serpentine Wall: The parish council have delivered to all concerned residents a copy of a report and other correspondence relating to the Serpentine Wall.

n New Housing Estate: It was agreed that the new gauging station access gate should be fitted with wire mesh in the interest of children's safety.

Bypass: The exhibition on April 30 was thought to be good and the county council's decision is now awaited.

Throckmorton Airfield carcasses disposal: Several councillors had visited the disposal site and had been impressed with the action taken by the army. Concern was expressed, however, regarding problems which might arise from problems such as odours and traffic volumes and the importance of continued communication was stressed. It was noted that MAFF had purchased 155 acres of land adjacent to the burial site at a cost of £3,875,000, the land to remain as it is, just in case there is a continuation of the problem.

Dog Fouling: Complaints regarding dog fouling in the village continue to be raised and the parish council agreed to purchase a dog fouling container to be installed by Smith's Meadow, in Mill lane.

Next meeting will be held on June 14 at 7.30pm.
