CHORAL SOCIETY: An appreciative audience filled Pershore Abbey last Saturday when the choral society, accompanied by the Regency Sinfonia gave an exciting performance of The Creation of Haydn. The choir sang with discipline, joy and renewed vigour and the first chorus was magical. Soloists Katherine Fuge, Jason Darnell and Simon Wilson blended perfectly in the duets and trios, and they and the orchestra produced many expressive moments with some amusing touches of humour and colour in the recitatives. The performance received inspirational direction from Andrew Wilson, the conductor, providing a truly uplifting musical experience.

NATIONAL COUNCIL FOR THE CONSERVATION OF PLANTS AND GARDENS: We are never too old to learn and at our May meeting we were introduced to The Secrets of Plant Propagation by expert Bob Hares, and we thought we knew it all! Bob will be familiar to many who attend his lectures at Pershore College and with his easy charm he gave us new ideas and even showed us how some re-cycling can come into it's own. We are very lucky at our June meeting when he is going to take us on a walking tour of the grounds at Pershore College and give us a chance to visit the AGS Garden and go behind the scenes in the Specialist Plant Unit. The National Collections of Philadelphus and Penstemons should be starting to bloom so we are looking forward to a fine, warm sunny evening but even the rain will not stop us. We had a very successful plant sale on May Bank Holiday Monday and thank all the visitors who supported us and hope to see you again on August Bank Holiday Monday for the Bulb and Plant sale. Anyone interested in joining us will be welcome. We meet on the second Tuesday of the month in the Frank Parkinson Centre, Pershore and Hindlip College at 7.30pm. Contact number 01562 777014.
