EVESHAM'S plunge down the local cricketing ladder shows few signs of abating after a third successive Worcestershire County League Division Two defeat.

They faced a tough test at Romsley and Hunnington last Saturday after the hosts had rattled up an impressive 213-9 in the face of some indifferent bowling.

The batting was also poor when the top order men failed to capitalise on decent starts and it was left to the dependable Barry Clements to start something of a revival.

He found a positive ally in Ian Prince, who had earlier taken 3-41, and his top score of 33 helped Evesham total 140 with a trio of double figure scores lower down the order.

The club did continue their impressive Sunday form with an easy win over Worcester Nomads, who were skittled for 99.

Overseas import Mike Massingham destroyed the visitors with a spell of 5-42 after Simon Cadwallader (46) and Aaron Smith (43no) had shone with the bat in a declared score of 194-3.

Teenager Will Lloyd grabbed 7-49 as the third team defeated Enville by six wickets.

Another 14-year-old, opening batsman Gareth Howman, helped Evesham off to a flier after tea and the chase continued in fine spirits with Alan Pitcher (37no) and James Cutler (49no) steering the thirds home.
