PARENTS are being warned to make sure their children know the importance of road safety after another youngster from Evesham was in an accident with a car.

The 13-year-old girl, who has not been named, was in collision with a red Vauxhall Belmont in the town's Pershore Road yesterday teatime.

She was taken to Worcester's Ronkswood Hospital with a suspected broken collarbone.

A boy who was with her at the time is believed to have suffered shock and was taken home by ambulance.

The accident, which happened just after 5pm opposite the Total petrol station, comes a day after two girls were injured on the same road.

Thirteen-year-old Stephanie Mace was described as being in a critical but stable condition in hospital today with serious head injuries.

Stephanie, a pupil at St Egwin's CE Middle School, was crossing Pershore Road at 4.40pm when the accident happened.

Collision

She and a friend were near the Evesham Service Station when the collision with the Volkswagen Golf occurred.

Stephanie was transferred from Ronkswood A&E to the Diana, Princesss of Wales Children's Hospital in Birmingham.

Her friend, who has not been named, was taken to Avonside Hospital in Evesham, where she was later released.

"With two similar accidents in two days, we want to make sure parents and children know the importance of road safety, especially with the summer holidays coming up," said a spokeswoman for Worcester police.

Police are appealing for witnesses to both accidents.
