A WORCESTER company under fire for its carpet fitting service has been criticised by another dissatisfied customer.

Marrianne Baker says she spent more than £2,500 on a carpet from Carpetright at Elgar Retail Park, Blackpole, last August when her family moved into their new home.

But she claims that, like Ian Stallard, who criticised the store in the Evening News earlier this month, she has been waiting for the company to repair her damaged carpet.

Mrs Baker, of Thetford Avenue, Warndon Villages, says she is still waiting for a replacement carpet, after faulty fitting left a hole in the middle.

"We were all set to move into our house, the carpet had been laid and Beazer Homes cleaned the house for us before we moved in," said the mother-of-four.

"But when they vacuumed a bit of carpet a hole came out."

She said Carpetright had told her that the fitter had since been fired.

"That doesn't make any difference to us, we're still left with a hole in our carpet," said Mrs Baker.

"My husband and I have renamed them Carpetwrong because of the problems we've had.

"We've had one contact with the manager and now we've been told all the paperwork has gone to another warehouse because they've changed their name.

"They've promised us new carpets but they've made no arrangements.

"I work in customer services and theirs is so poor. I would never give service like that."

Carpetright has said it is trying to get in touch with Mrs Baker to see where things went wrong.

"This is a previous store that has closed. We weren't aware there was a problem," said Richard Renouf, head of consumer affairs for Carpetright.

"We're aware there was a hole in the carpet, but according to the paperwork that has been sorted.

"But if that's not the case we will sort it out."
