BROMSGROVE Rovers chief executive Pat Bannister is still confident he can complete his takeover of the club -- despite the resignation of his chairman.

David McQueen, who took over at the helm in the summer, has declined to give his reasons for quitting but is believed to be unhappy at ongoing problems within the board, with some of the directors having criticised Bannister's proposed takeover in a statement.

But Bannister says he is close to taking over the majority shareholding. The one stumbling block is the granting of a new lease for the Victoria Ground by Bromsgrove District Council, which the council are due to discuss next week.
