KIDDERMINSTER Harriers suffered Danish despair last night as they crashed 2-0 in the first game of their pre-season tour at the club that set boss Jan Molby on the road to stardom.

Two second-half goals from Kolding, managed by Molby's brother Torben, did the damage as the home side turned on the style.

Kidderminster had earlier enjoyed the better of the chances but struggled to find a way back into the game after Mogens Hjorth had put the Danes ahead with a blistering drive on 57 minutes.

The visitors were also far too generous, handing Kolding two penalties. One was missed, but the other was converted by Torben Jensen.

Kidderminster, still looking for a left-sider player, used just 12 of their squad as they looked ahead to four more games in five days.

Molby admitted: "It was a fair result and they were probably better at keeping the ball. The amount of heavy training we are doing at the moment probably explained the lack of sharpness.

"We have four more tough games still to go on this tour, and it is all good education for the lads. They know what is needed and will hopefully take it on board."

Goalkeeper Stuart Brock had an early scare when Jacob Olsen floated a hopeful free-kick just over the bar on three minutes.

But Kidderminster kept the game tight until half-time with new signing Tony Bird and Ian Foster both firing in shots which goalkeeper Carsten Lauenborg saved comfortably.

But Kolding were a different side after the break, and it took only four minutes to force their first penalty. Mark Shail brought down Hjorth but Michael Steffensen hammered the spot-kick against the post.

However, there was no escape eight minutes later when Hjorth let fly with a superb drive that beat Brock inside his near post.

Then the Harriers 'keeper brought down Steffensen on his way to goal, and Jensen made it 2-0 from the spot.

Harriers: Brock, Clarkson, Stamps, Davies, Shail, Smith (Barnett 52), Bennett, Horne, Bird, Foster, Hinton.
