KIDDERMINSTER Harriers have been drawn against Walsall in the first round of the Worthington Cup.

The first leg will be at the Bescot Stadium during the week commencing August 21 with the second leg in the week starting September 4 at Aggborough.

Football League new boys Harriers described today's local derby draw as "brilliant news."

Walsall were relegated from Division One last year and bumper crowds are expected for both legs.

Officials at Aggborough have already started preparing for the club's first eagerly awaited taste of Worthington Cup action following their promotion from the Nationwide Conference last season.

Before the first leg takes place they will have already sampled life in Division Three with games against Torquay at home on Saturday, August 12, and away to Scunthorpeon Saturday, August 19.

Meanwhile, Kidderminster continue their programme of pre-season friendlies in Denmark tonight when they take on Vordingborg.

Harriers have picked up a number of injuries in their opening couple of tour games and are expected to boost their ranks by parading a Danish triallist.

Defender Scott Stamps is ruled out for the rest of the tour because of a thigh strain while newcomer Andy Ducros has a groin strain.

Ian Foster is also an injury doubt with a thigh problem.

After tonight's game, Kidderminster will complete their Danish adventure with matches against Farum tomorrow and Hornbaek on Wednesday.

When they return they will start preparing for further 'warm-up' encounters at Northwich Victoria (July 29), Stourport Swifts (August 2) and Boston United (August 5).

Once back at Aggborough, manager Jan Molby intends to formally complete the transfer of 38-year-old Barry Horne from Sheffield Wednesday.

He is expected to be given the role of player-coach working alongside Molby and assistant manager Gary Barnett.
