Summer signing Tony Bird gave another indication of his potential by grabbing a classy hat-trick in Kidderminster Harriers' 4-3 win at FB Copenhagen on Saturday.

The striker, signed from Swansea City, swooped to claim the limelight in an entertaining second match of Kidderminster's pre-season Danish tour.

Bird has now scored an eye-catching five goals in three games and has given fans added hope for their maiden Division Three campaign.

Boss Jan Molby said: "Tony hasn't done anything that surprises me because I know he can score goals for us.

"He works hard and gets well involved with the build-up play. I have always liked him. I think he is a good player."

Molby was delighted Harriers sprung into life at the weekend following a disappointing 2-0 defeat at Kolding on Thursday.

But there have been plus points, non moreso than Bird's exploits and the emergence of teenage midfielder Ben Davies, albeit enforced.

Harriers were shocked into action on Saturday when the lively Nicolaj Petersen streaked through the defence and put FB ahead on 17 minutes.

But five minutes later Bird began his one man show by rifling a fine pass from Stamps into the net from ten yards.

Dean Bennett leapt to head Barry Horne's cross over keeper Jacob Melchiorsen to put Harriers ahead on 25 mins.

Bird forced a great save from the keeper before making it three on 65 minutes by neatly glancing home Davies' perfect set-up.

The diminutive Davies then provided a superb cross for Bird to complete his hat-trick with a header two minutes later.

Despite new centre-back Mark Shail looking assured, sloppy defending gave FB a lifeline with two goals.

First keeper Brendan Murphy allowed a Martin Olsen snap-shot to slip through his grasp on 70 mins and then an unmarked Olsen confidently tucked home another 15 minutes from time.

However Molby was more than happy with his team's attractive attacking display.

He added: "We got off to a bad start with the Kolding game when we never looked like scoring. But we scored some good goals against FB and generally looked better.

"It was disappointing to concede the three goals. With each one there were at least two or three defenders who should have defended better.

"But the players are starting to come back to fitness. Things are going to plan and I have been delighted with the tour so far."
