A PAUL Danks double gave Redditch United a thrilling 2-1 victory over fellow title hopefuls Tiverton Town in the Dr Martens Western Division.

But 17-year-old keeper Mark Shiels and central defender Lee Knight also starred as Reds had to withstand some heavy pressure.

Steve Daly and Dave Toomey were both denied by the teenager early on with fiery midfielder Jason Rees having a free-kick brilliantly tipped over the bar midway through the second half.

Danks grabbed his opener five minutes from time, latching onto Karl Brennan's clever flick before placing his shot beneath the keeper.

The points were made safe when Danks netted a second on 90 minutes, the striker playing a clever one-two with substitute Ian Bennett.

Tiverton grabbed a consolation through Daly seven minutes into injury time but it was too late to deny Rob Smith's side.
