Kidderminster Harriers will be without defender Steve Pope when they kick off their Nationwide League Division Three campaign against Torquay United at Aggborough on Saturday.
The former Crewe player is ruled out because of a one-match suspension after being sent off in Harriers' final Nationwide Conference game last season at Altrincham.
Casualty
Also missing will be goalkeeper Brendan Murphy, a summer signing from Dundalk, because of a muscle injury.
Hoping to be off the casualty list in time for Saturday are Scott Stamps and Craig Hinton.
But Harriers are still hoping to sign former Port Vale midfield Ian Bogie but are in competition with a number of clubs including Luton Town and Darlington.
n Former Wales boss Bobby Gould has been named manager of Third Division Cardiff City. His former Wimbledon supremo Sam Hammam is expected to takeover the Welsh club later this month.
