KIDDERMINSTER Harriers will kick off their debut season in the Nationwide League Division Three with four new signings in their squad to face Torquay United at Aggborough on Saturday (3.00)

Barry Horne, Tony Bird, Mark Shail and Andy Ducros are all set to make their Harriers debuts after summer deals brought the quartet to Worcestershire.

Missing however will be recent capture Brendan Murphy, a goalkeeper from Irish Leaguers Dundalk, and defender Steve Pope.

Murphy has a thigh injury while Pope has a one-match ban for being sent off in Harriers' last Nationwide Conference match of the season at Altrincham.

Aggborough boss Jan Molby is hopeful that Ian Clarkson, Scott Stamps and Craig Hinton will all be fit in time for selection.

Newly-appointed captain Clarkson has been troubled by a hamstring niggle while Stamps, a former Torquay player, and Hinton have been suffering from thigh injuries.

Kidderminster have had Torquay watched and they believe they know what to expect.

Molby said: "I would say they are, in terms of organisational strengths, a typical Third Division side.

"They are not a particularly big side -- they are not going to come here and have all six-footers in the side.

"They have some small players, but they are all strong and play a very direct game.

"Let's not forget though it was only the last game of last season where they lost the chance of being in the play-offs when they lost at home to Northampton.

"They ought to improve on that. They have brought in Mark Ford who used to be at Leeds and Burnley and has been playing in Belgium."

"They'll feel he's added something to the squad and they'll be expecting a big season.

"But I think they'll get a bit of a shock when they come here and see what an important game it is and how this whole place is up for it.

"Probably most of their players have never been to this ground before and I think they'll be pleasantly surprised by the facilities and also by the playing surface which looks absolutely superb.

"But their experienced players will probably make sure that they don't get influenced by all the things that are going to go on because the most important thing for both teams is obviously the match.

"To kick off with a win for us would be nice.

"I think it's important as a new team in the league to get a good start because if you don't it's as if the whole world is against you.

"Also there are a number of my players who have never played in the Football League before so we need a good start which doesn't necessarily mean a win but I certainly think we need to avoid defeat and go from there."
