FORMER Liverpool striker John Durnin is hoping to be the answer to Kidderminster Harriers' goal scoring crisis after hitting a hat-trick for the reserves last night.

The 35-year-old, released by Carlisle United in the summer, netted in Harriers' 4-4 draw with Worcester City at Aggborough and could be included in the squad to face Lincoln City on Saturday.

Liverpool-born Durnin enjoyed a distinguished career at Oxford United and then Portsmouth after being released from Anfield before playing a first-team game.

Now he could be given a chance at Aggborough as a short-term replacement for injury-hit Ian Foster who is still struggling with a hamstring strain.

Durnin is set for talks with manager Jan Molby later today.

Molby is also running the rule over another two triallists -- 20-year-old Italian striker Luigi Di Pasquale and left winger Rory Prendergast. Di Pasquale, from Bari, had been attracting interest from Birmingham City.

Thomas Poston scored Harriers' other goal against City while Chris Jefferson (two), Carl Tranter and Jamie Hyde netted for Worcester.

Meanwhile, Martin Weir and Ian Cottrill face fitness checks tonight to see if they will be fit for Worcester's FA Cup clash with Thatcham Town on Saturday.
