SHARP-shooter John Durnin is gunning for goals -- and he's determined to be bang on target for his new club Kidderminster Harriers.

After signing a 28-day contract, the 35-year-old said: "Hopefully, I'll set the world alight here. But that's only dream stuff really. If I can help the team benefit in any way then I will have done my job."

Durnin's arrival at Aggborough is with a view to a permanent move to Kidderminster who have been struggling to find the net this season.

Indeed, the last time a forward scored was on August 28 when Ian Foster struck at Brighton.

Foster however has not played since then because of a hamstring injury while front-runner Tony Bird has yet to open his account for Harriers.

Durnin was with a Liverpool at the same time as Kidderminster boss Jan Molby who has drafted the former Oxford United and Portsmouth hot-shot into the side for this afternoon's Nationwide League Division Three clash at Lincoln City.

Liverpool-born Durnin, who was released by Carlisle United in the summer, said: "I came here at the beginning of the week and scored a hat-trick for the reserves. I did well and enjoyed it.

"Jan and myself were both at Liverpool so I know him as a person and it's obviously nice to come here and join him."

Durnin, whose strike rate is a goal in every three games, sympathises with Bird who has not scored in 12 appearances.

"I have had a 12-game barren spell, that's the longest I've been and it really does get to you after six or seven matches. Tony must be feeling a bit low because being a striker myself I know what it can be like.

"This is a great club and I am sure Jan will continue to do a good job. The Nationwide Conference is a hard league to get out of and he's done it well.
