THERE are plenty of teams throughout the Nationwide Football League who are struggling to score goals -- and there's no denying that we are one of them at the moment.

But, to be honest, I don't really want to make a major issue out of it. After all, it's more often as not the last thing that you get right in a team.

It's the hardest part scoring goals, so I don't think there's any need to make a bigger problem out of it than it already is.

But, believe me, supporters can rest assured that everything will be done to make sure we start boosting our goals-for column in the table as soon as possible.

There's no getting away from the fact that we are going through one of those lean spells at the moment, but I'm confident we will come out of it.

I must admit I don't think we are going to be a prolific scoring team this season, but it has been a big step for us coming up from the Nationwide Conference to the Third Division.

People must not forget that it's a different level we are playing at now and we are just finding it difficult in front of goal at the moment.

I suppose it's not really surprising at times like this that I regularly get asked about possible new signings to boost our attack.

Only yesterday the name Perry Taylor cropped up with regard to him being linked to us, but I don't know where that came from.

I know of him, of course, he's a young kid at Tranmere Rovers, but we are not interested.

Neil Midgley is another that's been mentioned following his loan spell with us last season.

He's just signed a two-year contract with Ipswich, but at the moment we just want to see what happens with Ian Foster regarding his hamstring injury which, hopefully, he'll get over sooner rather than later.

As I've said before we are always looking around for potential targets although the budget has been spent. But you have to be aware of what players are about in case the situation changes.

I know everybody is talking and writing about our current lack of punch in front of goal which intensified following our goalless draw against high-riding Rochdale at Aggborough last Friday night.

But let's not forget the way our defence and midfield departments have developed this season.

If you discount our defensive display in the recent home match with Blackpool then we have been as solid as anyone in the Third Division.

And I've no complaints about our midfield either. They work very hard and we have some good players -- it doesn't look out of place at all.

And I have to say again -- there's not a lot of money in the pot. We know that's the way it is, so we'll just get on with what we have got.

Anyway, the lads were pleased to get that miserable 4-1 defeat at the hands of Blackpool out of their system with the draw against Rochdale.

In fact, looking at the players in training yesterday they were back on form.

The anxiety that we saw last week in training after the Blackpool match was gone and there was real buzz about things even in the horrendous conditions caused by the rain.

Nevertheless, the session was great and they all enjoyed it.

Now, of course, we have got to fully focus our attention on Saturday's trip to Lincoln.

It won't be easy, no match is in this division. But come the final whistle you can guarantee that the lads will be have put in their usual 100 per cent effort. Hopefully, this time, it will be rewarded with three points.
