JAN Molby has threatened a Kidderminster Harriers clear-out after seeing his side crash 2-0 at Bury in the LDV Vans Trophy second round last night.

Molby hinted the future of several of his players could be on the line and stressed he would be speaking to those concerned today.

He fumed: "We didn't perform -- it was disgraceful. I felt we did not make any impact.

"One or two people might have been wondering why certain players haven't been in the team and one or two of them have been in to see me to ask why they haven't been playing. But the answer was out there on the pitch.

"We have got quality players, people like Neil MacKenzie, John Durnin and Andy Ducros who would grace any team in the Third Division, but we need more than that.

"If we can beat Brighton on Saturday, we can get really close to the play-offs. But if we lose again, that leaves us six, seven or eight points away. That means we would need to go on a big winning run and I don't know whether this team is capable of going on a run like we did last year."

The gulf between Divisions Two and Three was clearly visible as former Worcester City striker Andy Preece's Bury team clinched a comfortable victory.

Two first-half goals from skipper Nick Daws were all the home side needed as Harriers rarely threatened to challenge their dominance.

Molby made six changes, some enforced, as Tim Clarke, Ian Clarkson, Paul Webb, Dean Bennett, Tony Bird and Ian Bogie returned to the starting line-up.

The Dane was clearly upset with his team after a lack-lustre display which left Bury goalkeeper Paddy Kenny virtually redundant.

A gluepot pitch made Harriers' trademark passing game difficult last night after traffic congestion delayed their arrival and kick-off by 10 minutes.

Only tame first-half headers from Bird and Bennett came close for the visitors before Mac-Kenzie's 57th minute lob was well read by Kenny.

But Second Division Bury, who made seven changes themselves, were always well in control after Clarke could only help Daws' 18th-minute bullet header into his own net.

The Harriers' goalkeeper had a shaky first period but still tipped over an effort from Paul Reid before Daws slammed home a 25-yarder for goal number two on 26 minutes.

With Indian national team captain Baichung Bhutia inspirational, Clarke did well to prevent Bury adding to their total in a dire second half that tested Molby's patience to the full.
