I think we are only a couple of players away from being a decent Nationwide League Division Three side.

I know that might come as a bit of surprise to some people after what happened to us at Blackpool on Saturday, but I genuinely believe that to be the case.

When we do things right we are not a million miles away from what we want to be, but obviously when things do go against us, like they did on Saturday, it looks as if we are a long way off.

The one thing we must do, of course, is to stay positive. I certainly am.

The game at Blackpool has gone now and we have to look forward to the next match -- and that's against Lincoln City at Aggborough tonight.

Whether the defeat at Bloomfield Road has affected our confidence will be proved by how we deal with Lincoln.

But, I have to say, everything was missing from our game on Saturday. We just didn't do anything right.

We have ourselves down as a passing team, but we couldn't put two passes together. We kept giving them the ball which makes it easier for them. But every aspect of our game disappointed me.

I knew Blackpool are a good side and what I like about them, compared to a lot of other teams in the top five or six, is that they have a little bit more organisation and strength.

When they get on top they have the ability to go on from that which is what they did to us.

I don't think teams like Brighton and Hartlepool are capable of doing that because they don't have the same flair. When Blackpool get going they certainly have tremendous flair.

Obviously, results like that always affect you. I don't like getting beaten at the best of times and I certainly don't like getting beaten by an old team-mate of mine. And that was the second time this season, of course, that Steve McMahon's men have soundly beaten us.

But we are all in this together and we have all got to take our share of the blame.

One question I was asked was why I didn't use any substitutes on Saturday.

At 2-1 down we were looking to try to get back into the game. The only spell we had in the match was just after half-time, but then they scored two quick goals to make it 4-1. It's then that you think does anyone on the bench deserve to go on and be part of it. I didn't think so.

We gave the lads the full 90 minutes, but I don't think if we'd put on 11 substitutes it would have made a difference.

A few people were surprised to see Thomas Skovbjerg on the bench for the first time since the knee injury he sustained virtually 12 months ago now.

There's not a lot of reserve games and that's not always necessarily where we want him to be, so we thought we'd put him on the bench on Saturday.

In situations like this, though, where you have got to pick the right moment to introduce him and Saturday certainly wasn't.

We only had 17 fit players and being on the bench was just the next stage for Thomas. He'll probably be there again tonight.

We'll see if we can get to a stage where we can introduce him, but there's every reason to think that he'll get on some time or another.

Young Derby County defender Carl Brown has just completed a week's training with us.

We want to bring him back and have a further look at him in the next couple of reserve games. It's always difficult for players to come in and train and we'd like to have another look.

Hope to see you all at Aggborough tonight. Get behind the boys and let's put Saturday's experience well and truly behind us.
