JAN Molby is looking on newcomer Daire Doyle as a player with the kind of star qualities capable of making him a dazz-ling success with Kidderminster Harriers.

"He's most definitely one for the future," said the Aggborough boss, who snapped up the talented 20-year-old midfielder on a free transfer from Coventry City.

Molby added: "What he's going to bring us in the near future we will have to see. We'll have a good look at him and see, but certainly long term, in the next three or six months, I think he's going to prove to be a very, very good player for us."

Doyle was one of Kidderminster's substitutes in last Saturday's 2-0 Nationwide League Division Three defeat against Brighton & Hove Albion at Aggborough.

Molby, however, did not call on his new capture because of the way the match unfolded.

He said: "I wasn't tempted to put him on. I was a very difficult game. People always expect from a new signing and I don't think it was the right time to put him on. It might have been different if we had been pushing and pushing and playing at a high tempo. Certainly late on in the game Brighton were very confident and we found it very difficult to get anywhere near them."

Doyle joined Coventry from Irish side Cherry Orchard for a nominal fee in 1998, but struggled to break into Gordon Strachan's side.

Molby, however, is convinced he can help bring out the best in the young Irishman who caught the eye when he had a trial period at Aggborough earlier in the season.

He has now signed a contract until the end of the campaign with a view to an extended stay.
