AN exhibition inspired by the Spring Gardening Show is currently on display at the On the Wildside Gallery in Malvern.

Called 'Malvern Springs into Bloom', the gallery has collected pictures, silk hangings and sculpture together to create a striking exhibition of botanical and floral art.

Watercolours, drawings, etchings and engravings by leading artists will be on display, together with the work by Storridge artist Jan Solven.

Jan creates vibrant silk hangings, scarves and sarongs inspired by flowers.

"I've been painting on silk for about nine years now," she said. "I taught textile art for years and I've done lots of art in different forms but then I took up silk painting after being inspired by a trip to Southern Ireland and I've been doing it ever since. What I like about it is the vibrancy and colour which is very, very beautiful."

The exhibition will also feature intricate pencil drawings by Carolyn Worby, bold and colourful paintings by Jenny Ruby and bright and confident compositions by Barbara Oozeerally.

Chris Johnson, joint owner of the gallery with his wife Christine, said the recently opened gallery was doing very well.

"We're getting into the better season now, particularly now part of the hills has opened," he said.

The exhibition will continue until Saturday, June 9. The gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday, 10am -5pm.
