STUDLEY striker Andy Grubb is struggling to be fit for Saturday's trip to Southam (ko 2.45pm) with a troublesome ankle injury.

The Bees' leading scorer has been unable to train since suffering a reaction in the 2-1 Smedley Crooke Cup win over County Sports.

And he was set to miss out as Studley tried to secure their first cup final of the season at home to Kidderminster Harriers Reserves tonight (Wednesday).

But the match, sponsored by MPJ Services, was an early victim of the snow and rain last night and today

Studley manager Mark Chambers has bolstered his squad with addition of Pershore midfielder Simon Brain.

But the new arrival is also unavailable as he is serving a five week ban.

Former Evesham regular Brain trained with BKL in the close season before opting to join Pershore, and Chambers welcomed his arrival.

"We didn't know Simon was banned but he will be available for the last month of the season for us and is a useful addition," said the Studley boss.

Chambers is gunning for his first silverware at the Beehive as he continues his triple bid for honours.

The BKL gaffer is looking at recruiting a keeper to cover for Keith Beasley.

The Bees number one missed the Smedley Crooke Cup win over Ledbury Town with suspected flu but has since been told he had a kidney infection.

Beasley was hoping to return against Harriers but was set to see a doctor yesterday, Duncan Turk is on standby.

Chambers is already resigned to losing his shot-stopper for the title run-in after he ties the knot in May.

But the Studley boss has been given permission to talk to Redditch United keeper Dave Adey.

The BKL manager is still hoping to sign Alvechurch midfielder Dean Meyrick after making a seven day approach.

And Chambers has been boosted by the news Nuneaton Griffs, the only side who can overhaul them by winning games in hand, reached the Birmingham FA Vase final on Saturday to add to an already congested fixture backlog.
