REDDITCH police are investigating a 'nasty assault' which left a teenager with a broken nose and stitches in his lip.

The attack happened in Petton Close, Winyates, at about midnight on Sunday, when a 19-year-old man who had just got out of a taxi noticed a group of youngsters being rowdy and causing a nuisance.

He asked them not to make so much noise because it was late but they began punching and kicking him before running off.

Pc Andy Jones, of Redditch police, said: "This was a nasty assault on a man on his own and greatly outnumbered by a group of youths.

"Although late at night, there were people still moving about and we would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the assault or saw the youths in the area who were being rowdy and causing a disturbance."

Anyone with information can call 584888 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
