A VILLAGE store near Bromsgrove has received a facelift thanks to a massive cash injection.
Sandra's Superstore, in Alcester Road, Lickey End, has received a grant of more than £8,000 from the Vital Villages project.
Owner Sandra Smith, who took over the store more than 12 months ago, spent the cash on new flooring, air conditioning and heating, fixtures and fittings and a new freezer.
She said: "It has really brought the shop into the new century.
"It was dark and dingy before and nothing matched but now it is nice and bright."
During the last year Sandra has spent more than £25,000 improving the shop including equipment for scanning goods and facilities allowing her to bake fresh bread.
The Vital Villages Partnership, of which Bromsgrove District Council is a member, was launched at Blackwell Post Office last year.
It aims to maintain the vitality of village life and awards grants for the refurbishment and improvement of village shops.
