SPA travelled to Coventry to play Trinity Guild on Saturday and in very difficult conditions failed to find the fluidity they played with in previous weeks.

Trinity Guild First XV 10 Droitwich First XV 15. Midlands Division Four West (South).

Droitwich took the lead through a Matt Blackmore penalty and a well taken try by the prolific Jamie Faulkener.

But Trinity defied their lowly league position and posed Spa many problems.

The second half was a scrappy affair not helped by some strange refereeing decisions.

Droitwich did, however, extend their lead when Faulkener made a blistering run to beat what seemed like the entire home defence to score.

Trinity hit back with a late try but Droitwich will be glad to have come away with the points.

It was not one of Spa's best performances this season but the howling, icy wind made handling difficult.

And the players can gain some comfort from the fact that this is the kind of venue which has proved to be a banana skin in recent years.

Silhillians lead the table and look favourites for the title. Droitwich, Pershore and Southam are all one point behind.

Southam have to play Pershore at home and travel to the Memorial Ground to play Droitwich. Spa must also travel to Berkswell and Balsall before ending the season at Redditch.

The players know they have to win all three games to be in with a shout of the title but captain Nick Godfrey is confident the team can do exactly that.

The RFU has yet to decide how many teams go up this year so the players are keeping their fingers crossed.
