A RECORD-BREAKING year for Comic Relief was boosted by the madcap efforts of Droitwich Spa fundraisers.

Taxi driver Paul Williams and staff from Mojos Hair Salon, in High Street, clowned around and collected £500 on Red Nose Day.

Sponsor money raised by spending the day in clown costumes will go towards providing days out for disabled and elderly people in Droitwich Spa.

l Surprised visitors to Wychavon District council's One Stop Shop, in High Street, saw staff had regressed to their schooldays and come dressed in St Trinian's-style uniforms.

They raised £240 for Comic Relief, with the help of Worcestershire County Council physical disability social worker Josie Wilkinson, who dressed as a schoolmi-stress and collected £93 from colleagues in Worcester.

l Teams of gym members and staff from the Droitwich Spa Brine Baths and Droitwich Private Hospital, off St Andrew's Street, joined a nationwide sponsored row which organisers hope will be the biggest Comic Relief sporting fundraiser ever.
