A PUBLIC entertainment licence has been granted to Redditch Football Club's Valley Stadium, despite objections from residents.

People living in Lowans Hill View complained about noise from late night functions at the club.

But Redditch councillors agreed to the application, for a period of six months, during a licensing sub-committee meeting last Thursday.

Valley Stadium bosses said they had put in double-glazing and would install a sound proof roof and a noise pollution system in the club.

And club chairman Rod Laight assured any problems residents had in the future would be addressed.

A popular Monday night teen disco at the club was scrapped because it was revealed youngsters had been assaulted on their way home.

But the club is in discussion with police to get the event up and running again and are looking at putting on transport and providing adult escorts for the children on their way home.
