MAY I bring readers' attention to the dangers posed by horse riders on badly lit roads, particularly in the twilight hours?
Last week I almost ran into two horses, riding two abreast, in Callow Hill Lane. Both horses were dark and both riders were wearing dark clothing.
The Highway Code is quite clear on this situation. Riders should wear light, fluorescent or reflective clothing, particularly in poor visibility.
Horses should carry reflective bands on their fetlocks. Riders should carry both forward facing white lights and red lights to the rear.
Can all riders, parents of young riders and riding stables take careful note?
