WORCESTERSHIRE are convinced Australian pace bowler Glenn McGrath will help bring the glory days back to New Road.

"His signing is a great coup for the club," chairman John Elliott told members at the County's annual meeting held at King's School, Worcester, last night.

McGrath will be heading for New Road this season after being nominated as Australia's Cricketer of the Year.

"The prospect of Glenn spearheading our attack alongside Alamgir Sheriyar, who had such a good season last summer, is a mouth-watering prospect," said Elliott.

The County chairman also confirmed that Sheriyar and Vikram Solanki had both signed new three-year contracts.

During the meeting Roy Booth was re-elected as Worcestershire's president and Peter Seward as treasurer.

There was also confirmation of the election to the committee of Dave Broughall, Mike Gilhooly, Martin Horton and John Inchmore following the ballot conducted last September.

As reported previously Worcestershire made a profit, before tax, of £3,247 last year.
