WORCESTERSHIRE are to play a waiting game over whether Graeme Hick will continue as captain.

A decision will not be made until it is clear where the County batsman fits into England's plans for the coming campaign.

Worcestershire's chairman John Elliott told members at last night's annual meeting that the New Road club had no need to rush into reviewing Hick's role as skipper.

He said: "In view of the important contribution Graeme makes to our cricket, the cricket committee is not proposing to consider the matter of captaincy for the coming season until we are clear where he fits into ECB's plans for central contracts for England players for the summer's Test series."

He added: "Nothing is lost by leaving any decision until nearer the start of the season. He remains our captain until we have a better idea of his availability for this season."

During last night's meeting Elliott paid tribute to Mike Vockins who was attending his final AGM as secretary before retiring in mid-summer after 30 years with Worcestershire.

Mike Jones, a recently retired member of the County Committee, was elected club president in succession to Roy Booth while Cecil Duckworth was elected a Patron of the club.

Mrs Betty Godfrey, President of the County's Supporters' Association, and its secretary Mrs Pat Mills were both elected as vice-presidents.

Peter Seward was re-elected treasurer while the election to the committee, from October 1 last year, of Ken Mills, Ian Pugh, Peter Radburn and Muriel Tinsley was also confirmed.

As reported previously, Worcestershire made a loss, after taxation, of £25,882 last season -- the County's first deficit since 1982.
