HEREFORDSHIRE'S leading clubs have been given the go-ahead to resume playing at home again.

The Herefordshire Football Association had prevented clubs in leagues such as the Banks's Brewery League and Hellenic League from playing on their own grounds because of the foot and mouth crisis.

The order has now been lifted, with county secretary Jim Lambert saying: "We have given dispensation for anyone that has a totally enclosed ground that is willing to take appropriate controls, such as disinfectant, as defined by MAFF (the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food)."

The order also applies to the local Herefordshire Leagues, although they have suspended all their fixtures anyway until further notice.

Bromyard Town have already decided to suspend home fixtures for two weeks following a request from a nearby farmer, and will review the situation after this weekend. Wellington have also called off games.

Mr Lambert added: "We are making the point that any club who decide to take that line will be supported by us all the way."

* Westfields go ahead with their Banks's Brewery League Premier Division derby at home to Kington Town tonight (7.45).

Westfields name an unchanged squad against a side containing their former player-manager Gary Stevens.
