MAY I clarify the situation concerning the culpability of various groups of drivers speeding on Woodgreen Drive and put the blame squarely where it lies.

On almost every occasion I join Woodgreen Drive, there will be one or two cars behind me. I then travel along the road at the maximum speed the law allows, 30mph. When I slow down to negotiate the next roundabout I have a tailback of a dozen cars.

How can this happen, without speed limits being broken? Which class of driver is responsible for this menace? Simple, all types of people - old women, young men, executives, housewives, those in Minis and those in BMWs.

It is a rarity to see anyone (not only in Woodgreen Drive) comply with 30mph limits, and it is a national epidemic.

You, the reader, may be agreeing with my censure of the driving standards and arrogance of drivers, though you are probably no less guilty than anyone else.

As all psychologists know, rules only apply to other people. So, check your speedometer when you are next in a 30mph limit.
