THE third Annual Foley Golf Challenge against the Sand Hogs Ancient Golf Society took place last weekend.
Saturday saw the teams play at Upper Sapey Golf Club, a pairs match competition played in muddy conditions shots being taken off the lowest handicapper. This proved to be a battle royal, six pairs teed off at 1.30pm and at the finish it was honours even, three matches a piece.
Sunday saw the teams at the Bransford Golf Club, the format 12 singles matches. The final score was 18 points to 17 points giving the Foley team the win for the third year in a row.
It was then back to the Foley for a buffet and prizegiving. The Challenge Trophy being presented to the winning captain Gordon Hawker by Dr J Holiday.
Special thanks to Nigel Thomas, MD of the Foley Hotel for the excellent buffet, Steve Hickman for the Saturday night festivities at the Red Lion, members of the Sand Hogs, once more gallant losers and Taff Davies.
