THE Worcestershire Football Association have appointed Andy Norman as the Association's first full time Football Development Officer.

Andy took up his duties on March 12 and was previously employed by Wychavon District Council as Assistant Youth Sports Development Officer and has experience in working in partnership with local authorities, schools, the Local Education Authority, Sport England, national governing bodies and clubs.

The purpose of this position is to develop, implement and evaluate Football Develop Programmes to increase both the quality and quantity of footballing opportunities within the County and amongst Andy's responsibilities will be: The implementation of the FA Charter for Quality initiatives, including Charter Standards and Child Protection. The development of girls' and women's football in conjunction with a part-time Girls' and Women's Football Development Officer. The development of small sided football. The development of a programme of education, training and support for volunteers within football.

Also to work in conjunction with the Association's County Coaching Representatives to develop a programme of coach and medical education courses and to develop effective working relationships with key agencies e.g. local authorities, Local Education Authorities, Football in the Community schemes, School Football Association, Sport England - as well as working with the Association's own Co-ordinators responsible for some of the above FA initiatives.
