WORCESTER visited Newtown in this Mercian Elgar U11's League match and almost pulled off a shock win.
NEWTOWN SPORTS BOYS 3, WORCESTER RANGERS 3
The Boys started well with Jamie Ferguson tapping in an Adam Johnson cross and Josh Allison also went close. Newtown were then punished for pushing too many players forward by a great goal from Rangers. Newtown failed to learn from this and by half time were 3-1 down.
In the second half the Boys rearranged their shape and left Mark Holbrow and Ben Hardy to prevent any more Rangers progress. The arrival of Lee Hammond and Phillip Harris for Newtown turned the tide and it was Harris who brought the Boys back into the match with a well taken goal and had another disallowed.
Peter Boardman crashed in the equaliser from close range but Worcester held on for a well deserved point.
