AN injury time strike by debutant substitute Chris Williams snatched a point for Red Lion Falcons in this Worcester Division Four encounter at the Chase.

RED LION FALCONS 3, THE DOVEY 3

The Lion could have taken all three points had they managed to sustain their impressive first half display, but despite leading 2-0 early in the second half they succumbed to a Dovey fight back.

Rich Bryan opened the scoring on the half hour with a superb goal picking up a loose clearance Bryan smashed a 25 yard shot into the roof of the net.

The Dovey strived for a reply but struggled to break down a home defence marshalled well by man of the match Andy Fletcher, and it was the home side that came closest to scoring again when Fenwick and Burke saw shots saved.

On 53 minutes the Falcons did make it 2-0 when Sean Egan's cleverly floated cross was knocked down for Burke to drive a shot inside the far post.

This signalled a comeback from the Dovey who scrambled their first following a defensive mistake, then proceeded to take the lead with two goals in four minutes, the result of some determined running from their midfield.

At 3-2 down the Falcons were rattled. However, the midfield penetration of Fen-wick, Rose and Haffield continued to conjure up chances although Bryan, Burke and Jeremy Williams were unable to convert.

It was left to substitute Chris Williams, only on the pitch for 10 minutes, to steal in at the back post in injury time to blast home Jon Hale's knock for the equaliser

This Sunday the Falcons travel to Keyz 2000 looking to complete a double following their 4-0 victory against their local rivals last month.

The club are looking for a local company to sponsor a trophy for their inaugural Cradley Invitation Cup Final which will be played against Bell Inn 98 on Friday, May 11, at Bosbury. More details on 01684 892118.
