ONE of Worcestershire people's favoured theatres is planning to offer the ideal tonic for a stressful day as a leading character from television's Peak Practice takes to the stage.

Joseph Millson, better known as Dr Sam Morgan from the ITV medical drama, is to star in an award-winning adaptation of the classic novel Mill on the Floss, being staged at the Everyman next week.

The 27-year-old, who left the television series two months ago, said he was looking forward to returning to the theatre in Cheltenham after appearing there in Salad Days in 1997.

I did 50 episodes of Peak Practice and I had a great time, but it was time to move on," said Joseph.

I was asked to stay but I felt as I was hardly seeing my wife and it's not natural for an actor to play one part for a long time, I should leave.

I'm really enjoying being back on the stage as it's more physical than television, and this is a very physical play.

The Victorian drama, adapted from the novel by award-winning theatre company Shared Experience, tells the story of a woman's life-long struggle against an oppressive family.

Tickets to the show, which runs between next Tuesday and Saturday, are available on 01242 572573.
