Stourport Swifts 3 Pelsall Villa 2

Rod Brown's men made hard work of defeating third-from-bottom Pelsall in the Midland Alliance on Saturday.

Matt Cartwright opened the scoring for the visitors from the penalty spot after he had been held by Mulders.

It could have been a lot worse but Rob Clarke denied Donovan and Bentley shot over.

However, Cartwright grabbed his second after a solo run.

Swifts' Paul Moore began the fightback with a 25-yard strike.

And the game turned on 38 minutes when Cartwright reacted to a challenge by Anthony Davies and the result was an early bath for both.

In the second half, a Lea Shaw corner was flicked on by Marsh and Booth's strike brought keeper McPherson into action.

Three minutes later, Booth was again unlucky when McPherson was saved by the bar and Shaw then skimmed the woodwork from 20 yards.

Pelsall retaliated and good work between Donovan and Bentley resulted in a one-handed save by Clarke.

Swifts were on level terms on 67 minutes when Mulders' deep cross was headed back by Marsh for Booth to score.

Moore was unlucky two minutes later when the Villa keeper saved with his feet.

This led to three consecutive corners, Marsh diving to head home the third from six yards, giving Swifts the lead.

As Swifts worked hard to increase their advantage, Marsh had another attempt cleared off the line by Wilkins and Moore was inches wide with a fine strike from 20 yards.
