Oldbury United 0 Stourport Swifts 0
THE Midland Alliance promotion push took a blow when Stourport Swifts dropped two points in a lacklustre 0-0 home draw with Oldbury United on Tuesday night.
The visitors were the closest to hitting the target, striking the bar with the highlight of a shot-shy first half.
Top scorer Lee Booth carved out two openings early after the restart.
His first attempt brought a low save from the keeper but his second was skied over the elusive Oldbury goal frame.
Jan Mulders did just enough to force Oldbury's Neil Hesson into putting a close-range effort over the bar before Stourport's best chance to break the deadlock late on.
A ball across the face of the Oldbury target just evaded the incoming Simon Marsh who looked certain to score.
Replacement Richard Taylor almost grabbed his first Swift strike with a late volley over the goal.
Fixture, Saturday: Swifts v Boldmere St Michaels (Davis League Cup quarter-final, 3pm). Tuesday: Bloxwich Town v Swifts (League, 7.45pm).
