THOUSANDS of Wyre Forest pensioners are to benefit from increased payments.
Some 21,000 district pensioners will receive the Government's Minimum Income Guarantee.
From next month the MIG for single pensioners will rise by up to £13 to £92 a week.
Couples will get £140 a week - up to £18 more.
Wyre Forest MP David Lock said: "Tackling pensioner poverty is one of my main priorities.
"I want all pensioners in Wyre Forest to have a decent standard of living. That's why the Government is right to get more help to the poorer pensioners."
He added: "I'm urging all pensioners in Wyre Forest who think they might qualify to get in touch with the Minimum Income Guarantee hotline."
