SISTERS were doing it for themselves in Bromsgrove which hosted the Women's Festival 2001 last Friday.
Organised by Bromsgrove District Council the event is in its fifth year and puts the skills and talents of women from the area under the spotlight.
After a fashion show on Thursday night, the following day stalls boasting hand-made wares and workshops were packed into the Spadesbourne Suite, in Burcot Lane.
From pressed flower work and toiletries to advice on reflexology and acupuncture, it was a Pandora's box of wise buys and good ideas.
The authority's cabinet member for recreation, amenities and tourism Cllr Terri Matthews (Con, Furlongs) said: "The festival shows clearly the excellent and varied contribution women make to the world today, their role in the past and their potential for the future."
