AT the meeting at the Swan Hotel, president Jayne Hancocks introduced speaker Alan Stewardson, who gave Rotarians and visitors a fascinating talk on his 35-year career in aviation.
Alan joined the Redditch ATC and was awarded a flying scholarship in Canada.
Gaining his pilot's wings, he joined the RAF, where he spent some years flying Venom and Vampire fighters, mainly based in Germany.
Leaving the RAF, Flight Lieutenant Stewardson joined BOAC, flying Comets.
He then joined Cathay Pacific where he piloted a variety of air liners.
Captain Stewardson then moved to British Midland as a long haul pilot and, during his time with them, he was seconded to fly for some 26 different airlines.
Nearing the age of retirement, Alan reverted to short haul flying and was Senior Captain Training Instructor for British Midland.
