BROMSGROVE Rovers will soon have an official supporters' trust, new majority shareholder Pat Bannister has revealed.

The move comes after the chief executive finally ran out of patience with the independent Bromsgrove Rovers Supporters Society, launched last month.

It was hoped the society would join forces with Rovers to raise funds for the club's future, but Bannister has now vowed never to work with the society's chairman, Phil Baker.

Bannister stormed: "Enough is enough -- we are getting no communication from them. Nobody can say that I haven't tried to have meetings with them but they're refusing to meet me or acknowledge me and I'm trying to save this club and take it forward. It's an absolute joke.

"I will be having a meeting with the club's administrators next week about setting up the trust, which hopefully members of the supporters' society will join and it will raise money for the club. I won't be working with Phil Baker, though."

Members of the society were left in a dilemma when they heard over the tannoy at Saturday's match against Rocester that their quiz night on March 30 at the Victoria Club had been cancelled because of a double booking.

Baker said: "I am completely baffled over this decision. We have been under considerable pressure from the club to hold an event at the Victoria Club and as soon as we do it gets cancelled without anybody telling me.

"This event would bring in much needed income for Bromsgrove Rovers and I thought that is what the administrator was appointed for. However the date stands and we shall re-arrange the quiz at another venue."

Baker responded to the suggestion that he or a representative of the society sits on the panel at next Wednesday's sports forum. "As far as the society is concerned we believe this will be a distraction," he said.

The sports forum panel includes Bannister, director of football Steve Daniels and assistant manager Gary Hackett. Bromsgrove District Council has also been invited to attend while a member from the new administrators will be present. The meeting opens its doors at 7.30pm for an 8pm start.

David Greensill was the administrator appointed to Rovers on Monday March 5. He said: "During the next few days I will be reviewing the financial position of the club in order to report back to the court by April 23 with proposals for either the sale of the club as a going concern or details of further administration to continue and ultimately ensure the continued survival of the club.

"To this end I am already in discussions with interested parties and I believe that with the fans' support the club can survive."
