I REFER to Mrs Eades's letter in the Advertiser/Messenger.

While congratulating her on her robust attitude in defence of a sport and on the value of family activities, I feel there are points in her letter which need to be addressed.

Wildmoor Residents' Association circularised residents about the motocross track and car park application, not actively asking for support, but, as with other such proposed developments, notifying them of a perceived threat to amenities.

They could then, as always, act in any way they chose.

Many of us remember the motorbike activities at the old Stanley Evans quarry. It is naive to imagine the noise from this would bear any resemblance in volume to the proposed development at Lydiate Ash.

Situated on the high land above the slip road at Lydiate Ash, the motocross site would ensure that on meeting days those living in Wildmoor, Catshill, Fairfield, parts of Marlbrook (and even Stoneybridge) would be unable to enjoy peaceful afternoons in the garden.

As for having fields and crops ruined by bikers with nowhere else to go, sheep grazed not long ago on the area scheduled for a car park in the planning application in question.

Horses and sheep graze in many of the fields in the area surrounding Lydiate Ash. Livestock and motocross activities do not make good bedfellows.

The Stanley Evans quarry, now operated by Cleanaway as a landfill site, has not always been a pretty site over the past few years.

However, as the various "cells" are filled they are capped and finally restored to grassland.

Indeed, one such cell is almost ready for restoration -- a much more desirable outcome than a motocross track and car park.
