THIEVES broke into a shop in Studley High Street and escaped with several expensive remote control cars, writes Helen Clarke.
Police had a call from a member of the public at 3.30am on Monday, who reported seeing three men smash a shop window.
They were seen loading items into what could possibly have been a dark, old-style Ford Escort and driving off in the direction of the island.
When police arrived, they found model cars, from JP Models, in the road.
It is thought the thieves escaped with a number of expensive remote control cars worth £200 each.
An eyewitness reported seeing four youths running from the shop and believed they may have been wearing hooded tracksuit tops.
Police conducted a house- to-house search but discovered nothing and are not looking at CCTV footage.
