MOTORISTS seem to think they have a God-given right to park their vehicles on the pavement, to the detriment of pedestrians.

On Astwood Road, one can frequently see cars, taxis and delivery vans partially parked on pavements, double-glazing and builders vehicles parked fully on the pavement for the duration of the job, and council refuse collectors driving their wagon partially on the pavement.

Consequently, the pavement becomes uneven and full of potholes, which turn into puddles when it rains. One also wonders how much damage is caused to the gas, water and electricity supplies, by this inconsiderate practice.
