ONE of Worcestershire's top motorcycling events has become the latest victim of the foot and mouth crisis.
The Red Marley Freak Hill Climb, scheduled for the Easter weekend at Walsgrove Farm, near Great Witley, was cancelled after a meeting of the organising committee last night.
With no alternative dates available -- the farm is used for breeding geese, who need the land from May onwards -- the event will now return next year.
Public relations officer Colin Biddle said: "It is soul-destroying -- everybody has put in so much effort. But we fully understand the farmers' position. It is their livelihood they are losing and it is our leisure we are losing."
The event for vintage motorcycles, first held in 1927, returned last year after a 29-year absence, drawing a crowd of over 8,000. Preparations were under way for this year's event on a new course.
