SPA householders are facing disruptions to water supplies.

Severn Trent Water is carrying out a rolling programme of pipe-cleaning work in Droitwich.

Last week, Oakleigh Road residents, from Chawson Farm, suffered interruptions when their water supply was cut off from 9am to 5pm.

Droitwich Spa town councillor John Cook, (Lab, Droit.West) has called for Severn Trent to supply free-standing water tanks.

He said: "We've been told to store water but that's easier said than done.

"I can understand not using washing machines but what about toilets.

"There are a lot of mothers and babies on the estate."

A Severn Trent spokeswoman said people are informed in advance if water supplies face temporary disruption.

She added: "People who are concerned the work will cause them major problems or they have a medical need, can contact us and we will arrange for bottled water.

"Water tanks were not considered necessary because experience has shown that if enough warnings are given, stockpiling of water is usually sufficient.

"People are advised to stock up."
