STRUGGLING to get a run of games together, Fairfield started slowly and General had the upper hand.
It was no surprise when they took the lead on 30 minutes when Fairfield gave away a needless free kick on the edge of the penalty area. The ball was played into the near post where Richard Whitlock was on hand to guide the ball home. Both teams cancelled each other out for the rest of the first half.
The second half saw a much more determined Fairfield side and they started to play more like a team. On the hour mark a good move between man of the match Yemi Ingram and Paul Newbon resulted in Dave Fox scoring from 15 yards out.
This gave Fairfield a much needed lift and they started to knock the ball about with confidence. They took a deserved lead when Simon Pinfield and Yemi Ingram combined to set up Luke Thomas, who chipped the keeper from 18 yards.
Fairfield squandered some good chances to wrap the game up and allowed General back into the game ten minutes from time, when Gavin Barrett scored from close range.
