SPA can consider themselves robbed of a point in this game.

Leamington's winner came in the second minute of injury time, and everyone in the ground, including the 200 Leamington supporters, clearly saw no less than four Leamington players offside when the winner was scored.

Everyone, that is, except the linesman, who seemed oblivious to the rules of football.

Spa took the lead on 25 minutes when Danny Ryan's surging run won a free kick on the edge of the area. Gary Cleaver gently rolled the ball to Andy Crowther, whose shot struck the bar. Nick West was quickest to react, sliding the ball home from the rebound.

Leamington then started to press, and on 38 minutes, the speedy Josh Blake kept his cool and rounded the Spa 'keeper to make it 1-1.

The second half started with Leamington firing on all cylinders and following a strong run from Blake, Wayne Dixon was adjudged to have upended the Leamington forward inside the box. The referee pointed to the spot and harshly sent off the unfortunate Dixon for his second bookable offence.

The resulting penalty was struck against the bar, then saved magnificently on the rebound by Spa 'keeper Melvin Watson. Droitwich, now down to ten men, were under fire from a hungry Leamington and only some truly superb goalkeeping from Watson kept Spa in the game.

Just when Droitwich thought they had won a well deserved point, Leamington played a long ball over the defence for Guy Rippon to run on to and slot home after shouts for offside were ignored.

Leamington players and supporters seemed almost embarrassed to celebrate the goal after the linesman's mistake.

Man of the Match was Spa's Melvin Watson who was congratulated by all players and supporters for his heroic display in goal.
