MANAGER Jan Molby has been pondering over who to play alongside striker Drewe Broughton in Kidderminster Harriers' Nationwide League Division Three clash against on-song Scunthorpe United at Aggborough tonight (7.45).

Broughton was a lone front-runner for Harriers on Saturday when Molby switched to a 4-5-1 formation which resulted in a goalless draw with Rochdale at Spotland.

The deadlock ended a dismal run of three defeats in which the Kidderminster rear-guard conceded 12 goals.

Tonight, however, the Aggborough boss will revert to a 4-4-2 system.

Regarding who will partner Broughton, he said: "There are options within the 11 who played on Saturday. There's Tony Bird and Dean Bennett and Stewart Hadley who could come into the starting line-up or John Durnin could be recalled."

Molby, however, will again be without midfielders Neil Mackenzie and Adie Smith together with striker Ian Foster.

Mackenzie is still suffering from a knee injury picked up in the recent home defeat against Lincoln while Smith has a groin strain.

Mackenzie had a scan yesterday and, depending on the result, could be back in action on Saturday when Harriers entertain Darlington.

Former Bromsgrove Rovers campaigner Smith may also a candidate to return on Saturday, with Molby saying: "Obviously, he needs to join in training on Thursday or Friday to have a chance."

Foster is set to remain on the casualty list for a further few weeks with hamstring trouble.

Kidderminster go into tonight's game against a Scunthorpe side who have triumphed in their last three outings -- 4-3 at Halifax and 2-0 at Torquay plus a 2-1 home victory over high-flying Brighton.

Molby said: "Their last defeat was 1-0 at Cheltenham. I saw that, but things have changed massively for them since then. They have had three wins so they will be full of confidence.

"They are talking about the play-offs again and with those three wins they have chucked themselves back into it, so it's going to be a really tough game for us."

One player Molby pin-points as a major threat is striker Steve Torpey who was one of Scunthorpe's marksmen when they won 2-0 at home to Harriers back in August.

"He is probably one of the better target men in the division," said the Kidderminster boss.

Harriers assistant manager Gary Barnett said: "We made tactical changes on Saturday following our run of defeats. We were more solid and compact.

"The lads worked really hard and we are really proud of what they have done this season."

Following their trio of impressive victories The Iron have moved into 11th place in the table, just two points adrift of a play-off place.

On their travels Brian Laws' side have picked up four away league wins with their goals against record being badly dented last month when they tumbled to a 6-0 defeat at Blackpool and a 3-0 reversal at Cardiff.

Meanwhile, rumours are growing ever stronger linking Scunthorpe striker Guy Ipoua with a pre-transfer-deadline day switch to First Division Gillingham.

The 19-goal leading scorer has been frozen out of the starting line-up ever since refusing to sign a new contract and the 25-year-old has been given permission to talk to prospective new employers.

Cambridge are also thought to be keen on signing the Cameroon-born front-runner.

Scunthorpe's assistant manager Russ Wilcox admitted today he was relieved to report a clean bill of health for the majority of their players following Saturday's match.

Wilcox, who is out with a knee injury, said it was unlikely that youngster Matthew Sparrow would be fit in time to play after missing Saturday's encounter with a slight thigh strain.

And Wilcox believes it is a good time to be playing Harriers.

He said: "They are going through a bit of a bad spell at the moment while we have won three on the bounce and are looking for a fourth.

"We have had a tough time as we have had a bad run of injuries, but the youngsters who have come in have done tremendously well."
